 কর্মধারা অনুসারে শহরের শ্রেণীবিভাগ

(১) প্রশাসনিক শহরঃ- প্রশাসনিক কর্মের সঙ্গে যুক্ত শহর ; দেশের/রাজ্যের রাজধানী, জেলা সদর, পৌরকেন্দ্র প্রভৃতি।

উদাহরণঃ- ভারতের রাজধানী নিউদিল্লি, পশ্চিমবঙ্গের রাজধানী কলকাতা প্রভৃতি।

(২) শিল্প শহরঃ- শিল্পজাত পণ্য উৎপাদনই মূল কাজ ; শিল্প স্থাপনের কারনে গড়ে ওঠে।

উদাহরণঃ- ঝাড়খন্ডের জামশেদপুর (লৌহ-ইস্পাত শিল্প), আমেরিকা যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের ডেট্রয়েট (মোটরগাড়ি নির্মাণ শিল্প) প্রভৃতি।

(৩) প্রতিরক্ষা শহরঃ- প্রতিরক্ষা সংক্রান্ত কাজই মুখ্য ; সেনানিবাস, সামরিক কারখানা, দুর্গ প্রভৃতিকে কেন্দ্র করে গড়ে ওঠে।

উদাহরণঃ- ভারতের গোয়ালিয়র, স্কটল্যান্ডের এডিনবার্গ প্রভৃতি।

(৪) ধর্মীয় শহরঃ- ধর্মীয় গুরুত্বযুক্ত স্থানে গড়ে ওঠে ; মন্দির, মসজিদ, জন্মস্থান প্রভৃতি।

উদাহরণঃ- ভারতের বারাণসী, ইতালির ভ্যাটিকান সিটি প্রভৃতি। 

(৫) সাংস্কৃতিক শহরঃ- সাংস্কৃতিক কাজকর্মকে কেন্দ্র করে গড়ে ওঠে ; শিক্ষা, চিত্রকলা, ভাস্কর্য প্রভৃতি সাংস্কৃতিক উপাদানের ওপর ভিত্তি করে গড়ে ওঠে।

উদাহরণঃ- ভারতের শান্তিনিকেতন (শিক্ষা), আমেরিকা যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের হলিউড (চলচ্চিত্র) প্রভৃতি।

(৬) খনি শহরঃ- খনিজ সম্পদ সংগ্রহকে কেন্দ্র করে গড়ে ওঠে।

উদাহরণঃ- ঝাড়খন্ডের ঝরিয়া (কয়লা), মালয়েশিয়ার আপহো (টিন) প্রভৃতি।

(৭) পর্যটন শহরঃ- নানাপ্রকার পর্যটনস্থলকে কেন্দ্র করে গড়ে ওঠে ; পাহাড়, সমুদ্র সৈকত, ঐতিহাসিক স্থল প্রভৃতি।

উদাহরণঃ- উত্তরপ্রদেশের আগ্রা, পশ্চিমবঙ্গের দার্জিলিং প্রভৃতি।

(৮) বন্দর শহরঃ- নদী/সমুদ্র বন্দরকে কেন্দ্র করে গড়ে ওঠে।

উদাহরণঃ- ভারতের হলদিয়া, ব্রিটিশ যু্ক্তরাজ্যের অ্যাভনমাউথ প্রভৃতি।

(৯) কাঠ সংগ্রহ শহরঃ- কাঠ সংগ্রহকে কেন্দ্র করে গড়ে ওঠে।

উদাহরণঃ- মালয়েশিয়ার টাবাউ, কানাডার কর্ণারব্রুক প্রভৃতি।

(১০) আবাসিক শহরঃ- বসবাসের উদ্দেশ্যে গড়ে ওঠে। 

উদাহরণঃ- ব্রিটিশ যুক্তরাজ্যের লন্ডনের নিকট রিচমন্ড, ভারতের কলকাতার উপকন্ঠে রাজারহাট প্রভৃতি।

ভারতীয় আদমশুমারি অনুসারে বসতির শ্রেণীবিভাগ

২০১১সালের জনগননা অনুসারে ভারতে মোট জনসংখ্যার 68.84% গ্রামে বাস করে । বাকি শহরাঞ্চলে বসবাস করে।

১)প্রথম শ্রেণীর শহর:- যেখানে ১ লক্ষের বেশী জনসংখ্যা বাস করে।

২) দ্বিতীয় শ্রেণীর শহর:- যেখানে ৫০০০০-৯৯৯৯৯ জনসংখ্যা থাকে।

৩) তৃতীয় শ্রেণীর শহর:- যেখানে ২০০০০-৪৯৯৯৯ জনসংখ্যা বাস করে।

৪) চতুর্থ শ্রেণীর শহর:- যেখানে ১০০০০-১৯০০০ জনসংখ্যা

৫) পঞ্চম শ্রেণীর শহর:- ৫০০০-১০০০০ জনসংখ্যা 

৬) ষষ্ঠ শ্রেণীর শহর:- ৫০০০ এর  কম।

WB HS 2021 Geography Syllabus & Question Pattern

The total marks for West Bengal HS Geography Exam will be 100. Among the total marks, 70 marks for the written examination and 30 marks for the Project. The questions on the Higher Secondary Geography Examination will come from the new syllabus, published by WBCHSE.

The West Bengal HS Geography syllabus contains the following chapters

Physical Geography (35 Marks):

Geomorphic Process, Works of Groundwater and associated landforms, Soil, Atmosphere, Biodiversity, Man-Environment Interaction.

Economic Geography (35 Marks):

Agricultural, Industry, Population and Settlement,

WBCHSE HS 2020 Geography Question Paper

will have two parts, PART-A (35 Marks) will contain five descriptive type questions of marks 7. PART-B (35 Marks) will contain MCQ and Short answer type questions with no alternative.
