Goa receives heavier rainfall than Puducherry.


Ans:- Goa lies in Windward side of Western Ghats and gets rainfall from South West Monsoon while puducherry lies in the Eastern Ghat and gets rain from North East Monsoon in winter.


Mawsynram receives the highest average annual rainfall.


Ans:- Mawsynram lies in the Khasi Hills in Meghalaya and gets heavy rainfall from the Bay of Bengal branch of the summer monsoon. Here the hills are funnel shaped so the moisture laiden monsoons have to take a sudden rise which cause heavy rain.



Mangaluru is cooler than Delhi in summer season.


Ans.:- Mangaluru Situates Nearer to the Sea and experiences Maritime Climate whereas Delhi is Away from the Sea and experiences Continental Climate.

Ans:- Because Kanyakumari lies nearer on the sea coast and experiences equable Climate.


Central Maharashtra gets less rainfall than the coastal area of Maharashtra.


Ans:- Central Maharashtra lies in the Lee Ward side of Western Ghats. And monsoon brings less moisture there whereas Coastal Maharashtra lies in windward Side of Western ghats as monsoon moves in Northward Direction.


Jaipur has a higher annual range of temperature than Mumbai.


Ans.Jaipur is located away from the coast so it has high range of temperature whereas Mumbai is a coastal city and enjoys equable influence of the sea.


Kolkata receives heavier rain than Lucknow.

Ans. Kolkata is located nearer to the sea than Lucknow,Monsoon in Bay of. Bengal Branch brings rainfall in kolkata,while it moves away from the sea,it gets dry thus Lucknow gets lower rain than kolkata.



The Summer Monsoon winds blow over the Arabian Sea from the Southwest.


Ans. The South-East Trades are attracted towards India due to low pressure prevailing on the land mass. After crossing the Equator, they are deflected towards the right due to Coriolis Effect and blow into India as South -West Monsoon.


Thar is a desert.


Ans. Thar is a desert because of scanty rainfall. The region receives scanty rainfall because the Aravali range is parallel to the direction of the prevailing winds, so it does not offer any obstacles in the way of winds.


Kanpur has extreme temperature conditions.


Ans. Because It is away from the sea and it is not influenced by Land breeze and seabreeze.


Kochi is warmer than Mumbai even though both lie on the western coast of India.


Ans. Kochi is warmer than Mumbai even though both lie on the western coast of India because Kochi is located on lower latitude and is close to the equator.



The Ganga Plain gets the monsoon rain much later than the west coast of India.


Ans. Ganga plain gets the monsoon rain much later than the west coast of India because Ganga plain lies in the north India and the monsoon being south west  Monsoon, first strikes the west coast of India.


Kerala has the longest rainy season.


Ans:- kerala is the Southern most State of our country. it is the first and last to see the monsoon.


The Konkan coast experiences orographic rainfall.


Ans. Orographic means Season. The Konkan coast experiences orographic rainfall. it lies of the wind ward side of western ghats when south west monsoon strikes it.



The city of Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh has a higher range of temperature than that of Chennai in Tamil Nadu.

Ans.Patna receives heavier rain than Delhi because Patna lies to the east of Delhi and the amount of rain decreases as the winds which is blow from Bay of Bengal  advances towards the north west.


Western Rajasthan receives no rain from the Arabian Sea branch of the South West Monsoon winds.

Ans:- Western Rajasthan receives no rain from the Arabian Sea branch because winds run parallel to Aravalli hills as such they pass without any obstacles.


Mangalore is not cold even in the month of December. 


Because of Its distance from the Sea. It lies Close to the sea and experiences Maritime Climate.


When the Malabar coast is receiving heavy rainfall in July, the Tamil Nadu coast is comparatively dry.


Ans. Malabar coast lies in the Windward Side of Western Ghats and South West monsoon stricks at Western ghats and gets heavy rain in July while Tamil Nadu lies in Eastern Ghats gets no or little rain in July 



The Northern Plains of India have a Continental type of climate.


Ans. As it is away from the Sea thus the northern Plain of India have a continental Type of Climate.


Even in summer Shimla is cooler than Delhi.


Ans .Shimla is cooler than Delhi in summer because the temperature decreases with the height at a rate of 1°C for every 165 m of ascend.


The northern plains of India do not freeze in winter.

Ans. Northern plains of India do not freeze in winter due to the presence of Himalayas which do not allow the cold polar winds to enter India.


Kochi has a lesser annual range of temperature than Agra.

Ans. Kochi has a lesser annual range of temp, than Agra because Kochi is located on the sea coast and its temperature is modified by the land and sea breezes. Agra is away from the sea.


Mango shower is benefial for kerala


Ans. There are pre-monsoon showers towards the end of the summer in Kerala and the coastal areas of Karnataka. These are known as Mango showers. These showers are known as mango showers since they help in the early ripening of the mangoes.
