Natural Gas Commission of India since 1956, has started oil exploration in the
off-shore areas which is known as off-shore drilling.
In 1973, it has begun
drilling for oil in the deep waters off the western coast of Mumbai which is
known as Mumbai High.

quality of iron-ore called Hematite is mined in large quantity. The main
